Last year, the author of this article sat down to write Jada Eads’ first Pirate Preview article, not knowing much about her aside from her high school accolades and the excitement Head Coach Tony Bozzella had for her going into her freshman season.
Now entering 2025, the author of this article as well as all of Pirates nation knows exactly what Eads brings to the table, as she rose to stardom immediately in her inaugural Seton Hall campaign. Eads made Pirate history, as she was the first Seton Hall freshman to ever make the All-BIG EAST 1st team.
In her freshman year, the point guard averaged 13.8 ppg, 4.3 reb, and 2.3 ast, as she was one third of the team’s big three that included Faith Masonius and Savannah Catalon, which allowed the team to enjoy the success they had over the course of the season.
Eads began the season by coming off the bench, but quickly proved she was more than just a depth piece as by the time conference play rolled around, she was consistently playing 30+ minutes a game.
Some of her key performances included a 20-point outing against LSU (12/17), 25+ points against both Providence (12/21) and Butler (12/29), and a career-high 27 points in an overtime winner versus Georgetown (1/4).
Going into her sophomore season, there is a lot more responsibility and expectations on the shoulders of Eads, as she swiftly went from the new freshman to the team’s star player. However, despite the “pressure,” there is a lot of excitement and anticipation, as many wonder how much more Eads can progress following the All-BIG EAST 1st team season she just had.
With Masonius and other key players gone, there are a lot more points and minutes that need to be filled, and while the Hall brought in assets to fill these holes, Eads is the driving factor in determining how far this Pirates squad goes this year.
If Eads can build off the campaign she put together last year, Seton Hall fans are in for a treat as they would have a good shot at returning to the NCAA tournament for the first time since the 2021-22 season. For now though, those keeping an eye on Eads and the Pirates will have to patiently wait as the season kicks off at home on November 4th against Saint Peter’s.
