Out of all the newcomers on a completely revamped 2025-26 Seton Hall squad, sophomore guard and NC State transfer Trey Parker looks like one of the most promising additions Coach Holloway acquired in the transfer portal.

Parker committed to Seton Hall late in the portal process in early June. He revealed in the introductory video series the Pirates released over the offseason, "New Kids on the Block” that he never went on an official visit before committing to the Pirates. He just talked with Coach Holloway and the rest of the staff.

Parker has been known as a viral star for a few years. He started his High School career playing for Cape Fear High School in his hometown of Fayetteville, NC leading the school to their first playoff win in 15 years. Parker would then transfer to New Life Christian Academy in Fayetteville for his Sophomore year, then Vertical Academy in Charlotte for his Junior year.

It was at Vertical Academy where his name would start getting some national attention, he averaged 19.2 points per game on the High School circuit alongside another viral star in Mikey Williams. Parker would then transfer again, spending two years at Overtime Elite (OTE) in Atlanta alongside some of the best competition at the High School level.

Trey Parker shined at OTE, winning the championship in his first year with the City Reapers, where he averaged 12.5 PPG for the season. Parker was originally committed to NC State in the 2023 class but opted to play an extra year at OTE and reclassify to the 2024 class.

He played the following year with the Cold Hearts, where he averaged 13.2 PPG and 3.7 APG throughout the OTE playoffs before falling in the Semi-Finals.

Parker would then return home to play for Coach Kevin Keatts and NC State, a team that had a miraculous run through the ACC tournament on route to the Final Four as an 11 seed the year prior.

Unfortunately for NC State and Parker, they could not replicate the success they had on their Final Four run the season prior. The team finished 16th in the ACC with just 5 conference wins, and Parker did not receive a lot of playing-time. He averaged 4.6 PPG on 41% from the field, 1.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists in around 12 minutes per game.

Despite this, Parker shined when given bigger opportunities. He dropped a season high 19 points at Stanford and had an impressive outing against Duke. Parker finished with 15 points and an impressive 3-4 from behind the arc in the hostile environment of Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Parker should have a much bigger role with the Pirates then he did with the Wolfpack last season. Parker is an extremely athletic combo guard who can finish at the rim while still being a three-point threat. However, Seton Hall is overloaded at the guard position, and it will be interesting to see how Coach Holloway divides up playing time.

Seton Hall opens their season on November 3rd against St. Peter’s. Catch Seton Hall Men’s Basketball all year on 89.5 FM WSOU.
