INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Seton Hall Pirates dropped their fourth game in a row to the Butler Bulldogs by a score of 2-0 on Saturday evening.

The Pirates allowed a goal in each half, as the Bulldogs put up nine shots on goal to Seton Hall’s one throughout the game.

Butler wasted no time getting on the board early, as Lucia Englund sent a ball into the box that Gemma Gillespie used to score with her left foot in just the fifth minute. The early strike gave the Bulldogs a 1–0 lead, which they would keep control of the rest of the match, as well as maintaining possession of the ball most of the game.

Seton Hall’s goalkeeper Kate Kleinsmith was kept busy throughout the first half, making multiple big saves to keep the Pirates within reach. She made saves off shots from Leila Lister, Talia Sommer, and Lea Larouche, but the Pirates couldn’t generate much in response on the offensive end.

In the second half, the Pirates made some big substitutions at the break, including bringing in goalkeeper Avery Strohecker. She was tested immediately, making back-to-back saves in the 52nd minute.

Butler kept pressing on their attack, and just a minute later they struck again as the corner kick set up by Gillespie and Sommer assisted Chloe Brecht, who fired a shot into the top left corner to make it 2–0.

Seton Hall showed some fight late, with Paige Shaughnessy’s shot blocked in the 69th minute, and Adria Kitzinger giving Butler’s keeper Addison Ash her only save in the 78th minute. Strohecker also put together a few late saves, but Seton Hall never found a way back as the Butler’s defense continued to stay sharp from start to finish to complete the shutout.

The Pirates will look to snap the losing streak as they continue their road trip and head to Omaha, Nebraska to face the Creighton Blue Jays on Wednesday at 8 P.M.
